On November 12th we received our mission call to the Philippines, Quezon City as Security Specialists there.
A couple years ago Al did some research on missions you can serve for the LDS church for seniors and found one for Security Specialists. He called and the mission office was interested in Al's background in his background as an Intelligence Officer during the Viet Nam conflict. He served as a officer and advisor in Viet Nam during 1967-68. They invited us to help with security at General Conference several times and we found it really interesting. We decided if they wanted us somewhere in this capacity we would love to serve.
We are quite excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to it. No folks, we will not be involved with weapons or such. We will oversee the security of the temples both in Manila and Cebu and work with the American Embassy etc. Thats all we know at this point.
The couple that we will replace would like to stay they like it so much so. That says something for this opportunity.
Stay tuned. Questions are welcomed.
What an awesome opportunity! When do you leave?
