Last evening we attended a temple session with our four guards that will be taking posts at the Cebu Temple Complex. We had a meeting afterwards and a light dinner I had catered in. It was a real nice event. One of the officers was having difficulty with moving to Cebu. Had to do with the rent payment and as he is not paying rent at this point. Moving to Cebu and paying rent was not going to be comfortable for him. As of this writing, he and his wife elected not to move. So there will be a job post made for that position.
What was enjoyable last night was sharing experiences with our guys about being guided by the spirit in our lives. Each officer had an experience to tell where they had been guided. Our present supervisor Jess here in Manila had many experiences to tell how the spirit guided him in his position here. He told of how he felt inspired to not schedule a guard in the morning shift a couple of days ago. Then received a call from that officer saying he had a slight accident with his motorcycle and couldn't come in until later. Jess told of how he was guided by his Bishop some 16 years ago about looking for a house for his family and how he was able to do that miraculously. Miracles in his life he could relate. The other officers, Manny, Lot, Alex and Edwin could also testify how they had been helped in their personal lives by the Spirit of the Holy ghost. All have strong testimonies of the gospel.
Jess related the events around the dedication of the Cebu Temple. As the Temple was being dedicated by President Hinckley, the sun shone through the clouds directly on top of the Angel Moroni. It was distinct as Jess told me and that many felt the Holy Ghost testifying of the acceptance of the House of the Lord.
I don't remember if I had posted the story of when some helicopters some years back were trying to bomb the temple here in Manila. The NPA was trying to destroy it. This was 1987. Bombs dropped could not hit it. The bombs were dropped and then their course coming down moved outside the temple complex. There was some smoke from the bombs and then the temple couldn't be seen. This was seen by all those around. The Temple has not been bothered since.
